Namaste!
I’m Pooja Gandhi, regardless of where of the various cities I’ve lived in and the courses I pursued, yoga was the common thread that wove the fabric of my life.
Yoga has always felt like an inevitable part of my life, so much so that in 2019 I made the ultimate decision of giving up being in a full time job to be a freelance Chartered Accountant, so that I could also teach Yoga.
This journey to help heal others started about five years ago, when I saw how our lifestyles revolved around our work and how badly that affected our health. I wanted to make professionals and students around me aware of how much harm they were doing to their bodies on a daily basis and how I could assist them in living a healthier lifestyle. People often forget that their families ultimately need THEM the most, not just the money they are providing and I wanted to remind them of such and help them balance their lives. Working so closely with such people pushes me further towards this goal and motivates me to keep going until my mission of making people aware about their health is fulfilled!
When I mentor students on how to prepare for Chartered Accountancy exams, I’ve noticed them disregarding their physical and mental health, and focusing on their end goal only. I started to include yoga in their schedule on a daily basis which improved their mental and physical health immensely, so much so that they had better results in exams. My goal here is to incorporate yoga into the lives of our future generation in an effective way so that when they join the life of professionals, their health is not harmed which slowly paves way towards a balanced future.
Now, I offer my services under the brand Arthyogi, signifying a blend of ‘Arth’ meaning finance and yoga meaning physical, mental and spiritual well-being. The underpinning
philosophy is that these two aspects of life are complementary. Finance without health could be futile while basic financial stability is needed for a person to live a wholesome life. My broad mission is to render this two-fold service to humanity – as a Chartered Accountant (Arth) and Yoga Guru (Yogi).
While there are specific yoga programmes for specific conditions, I believe yoga to be a holistic science which addresses the realms of physical, mental, emotional, spiritual beings, the self and much beyond that. A sound body in a sound body has been the ultimate goal of humans for ages unknown, and our forefathers have shown us exactly how to achieve this. Hence, I have made it my goal to continue this rich legacy left behind to us and achieve the ultimate goal of life.
